Therapy for Clarity & Control

Work through Fear & Doubt | Process Anger & Regret | Reclaim Control | Reconnect with What Matters

Find Clarity in Chaos.

Hi, I’m Wendi.

I work with self-reliant adults who prefer to handle things on their own, until something happens that they can’t quite figure out alone.

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected, therapy offers a space to slow down and sort things out. We’ll move at a pace that works for you, exploring what’s bothering you, identifying patterns, and figuring out a way forward that aligns with who you are and what you value.

Therapy isn’t about forcing vulnerability or making you talk about emotions you’re not ready for. It’s about understanding yourself more deeply so you can regain a sense of control and clarity.”

Curious? Let’s talk.

A 15-minute call to ask questions & see if this feels like the right fit. No commitment, just a conversation.

You’re used to handling it all, but you don’t have to do this alone .

Q&A with Wendi

Who do you help?

I work with self-reliant adults (of all ages) who find themselves navigating difficult situations. My clients typically seek out therapy when something disrupts their sense of control or independence—whether that’s stress, emotional numbness, major life changes, or recurring relationship struggles.

Is This You?

You’ve always handled things on your own, but lately, it’s not working.

You feel stuck, restless, or detached, like something’s off but you’re not sure what.

You don’t love the idea of therapy but are curious if it could work for you.

If this sounds familiar, we might be a good fit.

Describe your approach.

Therapy is a collaborative process, not a passive one. We explore, reflect, analyze, and strategize together. You talk, I listen, and we make sense of things, piece by piece.

I ask questions, challenge unhelpful patterns, and offer insights that help you connect the dots. If something doesn’t sound quite right, you tell me. Through conversation, we uncover what’s going on beneath the surface, so you can move forward with clarity.

Q&A with Wendi

Tell us about your background.

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in New York and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Connecticut, with advanced certification in trauma treatment (Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, CCTP-II).

Since 2021, I’ve worked in private practice, helping adults navigate high-stress situations, cope with anxiety & anger, and process the lingering effects of fear, horror, and hesitation.

Before that, I spent five years conducting court-ordered evaluations and providing therapy for individuals on pretrial & probation. My work focused on substance use, general mental health, and sex offender-specific treatment.

What makes you unique?

I work best with people who don’t think of themselves as “therapy people. If you’re skeptical about the process, wary of therapists who feel too soft or passive, or just unsure if talking will actually help—you’re in the right place.

I know that logic and independence are important to you. You’ve built a life around figuring things out on your own. But sometimes, old strategies stop working. The usual ways of dealing (i.e. pushing through, distracting, numbing, analyzing) aren’t giving you the clarity or control they used to.

That’s where therapy comes in. Not as a place to vent endlessly or dwell on the past, but as a structured, collaborative process to figure things out.

Clients often say working with me is different because:

It feels like a conversation, not a lecture or interrogation. I won’t sit back and just nod. I engage, ask questions, challenge patterns, and help you connect the dots.
There’s no pressure to “be emotional. We work at your pace. If feelings feel foreign or overwhelming, we approach them logically first.
I balance insight with action. We’ll explore deeper patterns, but we’ll also focus on what’s useful now—tools, strategies, and practical next steps.
You get to be honest—fully. No need to filter or worry about saying the right thing. You can show up exactly as you are, without judgment.

Beyond my approach, my background in forensic mental health gives me a unique understanding of vicarious trauma, emotional detachment, and high-stress environments—particularly for those who have seen the darker sides of humanity in their work or personal lives.

 FAQs

  • You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. If you’re feeling stuck, disconnected, restless, or overwhelmed, therapy can help you make sense of things.

A good sign you’d benefit from therapy with me is if:

    • You tend to overthink everything but still feel unsure what to do next.

    • You’ve always handled things on your own, but it’s getting harder.

    • You feel numb, detached, or like something’s missing, but can’t put your finger on it.

If you’re on the fence, booking a free consultation is an easy way to see if this feels like the right fit—no commitment, no pressure.

  • The first session is about understanding what’s bringing you in and what you need. You don’t have to come prepared—I’ll guide the conversation with questions that help us get a sense of where to start.

    • You can expect: A mix of big-picture exploration (what’s been going on?) and practical next steps (where do we go from here?)

    • No pressure to dive deep before you’re ready. You set the pace.

    • No fixing, no forced vulnerability—just clarity.

  • Not at all. Therapy isn’t like a meeting where you need an agenda. If you’re unsure where to start, we’ll figure it out together. Some of the best sessions come from simply exploring what’s been on your mind lately.

  • Therapy should feel useful and relevant. If you ever feel like we’re not getting anywhere, we’ll adjust. If at any point you decide you need a different approach, I’ll help you explore options that might be a better fit.

This process isn’t about sticking with therapy just because—it’s about finding what actually helps.

  • It depends on what works for you. Some clients prefer a structured, goal-oriented approach, while others need more space to process things as they come up.

I don’t assign mandatory homework, but I do offer strategies and exercises that you can try outside of sessions. Everything is collaborative. I won’t tell you what to do, but I’ll help you find what works.

  • I work with self-reliant adults on issues related to stress, uncertainty, and emotional disconnection. Common themes include:

    • Chronic stress & burnout – Feeling overwhelmed but unable to slow down

    • Emotional numbness & detachment – Feeling disconnected from yourself and others

    • Struggles with trust & intimacy – Wanting connection but keeping people at arm’s length

    • Anger & irritability – Reacting in ways that don’t match how you want to be

    • Overthinking & indecision – Second-guessing choices, feeling mentally exhausted

    • Compulsive behaviors & escapism – Using work, sex, or distractions to avoid emotions

    • High-responsibility stress – Pressure from work or personal roles that make it hard to unwind

  • All sessions are virtual and available to clients in New York, Connecticut, and Vermont. Therapy is held over a secure video platform for ease and flexibility.

  • There’s no set timeline. Some clients come in for a few months to work through a specific challenge, while others find ongoing therapy helpful for long-term self-reflection and growth.

We’ll check in regularly to make sure therapy continues to feel useful for you.

  • Absolutely. Therapy isn’t all-or-nothing—you can step away and return whenever you need support again.
